Marathon Training
My girlfriend and I are training for our first marathon, which will take place on Nov 7, 2010. The Santa Clarita Marathon

A list of all the junk I use to get ready for the marathon
Marathon: You Can Do It!

Marathon: You Can Do It! by Jeff Galloway. Galloway recommends using walk breaks rather than run the whole entire time. We are training by running for four minutes and walking for one minute.
Vibram Five Fingers KSO

I learned a little bit about barefoot running, and my cousin recommended these shoes to me, so I decided to buy the Vibram Five Fingers KSO. They have been great. It took a little bit of time to get used to the change in my running form, but I have not looked back. My girlfriend still uses regular athletic shoes for running.
Injinji Socks

To go along with the Five Finger shoes, I wear Injinji Socks. They are comfortable and prevent the shoe from chafing against the skin on my feet.
Gymboss Interval Timer

Because we are using Galloway's training program, we were looking for something that will take care of the timing aspect of it. The Gymboss Interval Timer makes our lives easy by making a beep after four minutes, and then after one minute, and so forth.
Ultimate Direction Strider Waist Pack

For some of our long runs, we are out there running for a few hours. The Strider Waist Pack allows me to carry some water, my phone and a few energy packs. It fits snuggly on my waist and hardly bounces.
The Stick

I don't know how this thing works, but when I use The Stick to massage my legs after a run, it helps.
Gu Energy

At about 100 calories each, Gu Energy Packs provide a little bit of energy to keep us from hitting "the wall." They taste good too.
